We are in our busy season so this update is going to cover 2 back-to-back outings. First to the Shepaug River, and the next week to the Hammonasset River.

Weather was perfect foir both outings, and the fish cooperated. Temps in the 60's, no rain, no wind, and yes, gotta say it again, the fish came to the nets.

This year's Washington Rod & Gun Club outing is in the books. 7 program vets, 4 program vols, 6 members of the WR&G club, and a rep from the Steep Rock Association joined together on the Shepaug River for our annual outing.

Vets Healing on the Fly, provided the vets and the food, WR&G provided the guides and fish, and the Steep Rock Association provided the Shepaug River and a pristine land preserve. Last but not least, our program vols provided perfect weather, thx Leigh, and the 3 Johns.

Fish were caught on flies provided by WR&G plus some that our vets and vols tied. One of our vets, John S (Santa) caught his first trout on a rod that he built.

So, once again, Washington Rod & Gun hosted our group, 5 years running now. Thanks goes out to Dan, Tony, Tim the photographer, Tom all from WRG plus the Steep Rock Land tust for bringing us back to this pristine river allowing our vets to continue down the healing path.

7 vets and 5 vols had the opportunity to visit the Hammonasset Fishing Association. We were hosted by this organization to a day of fishing on a stretch of the Hammonasset River located on their private reserve.

In addition to providing 4 club members to act as guides and shuttle our group to and from the the beats on the river, we were treated to burgers, dogs hot off the grill and all the fix-ins that go with them.

After lunch, the waters got hot and started producing some numbers. a couple of vets ended up with 4 to the net, even Bill, one of the newest vets caught 4.

Of our group, 7 vets and 3 vols fished, 7 were on fish, and 3 more just relaxed on the water. Since it is a team effort, we can safely say we were not skunked.
