It was a long day starting off at 6:00 AM at negative 6 degrees. The car was preloaded the night before, and it was a 30 minute drive to the site of the expo. It took the better part of an hour and a half and for 3 of us to set up our fly-tying pop-up shop. Two more of our team showed up, John F, Antoine, Tim O, Darin and I were ready. A huge thank you to the team. We couldn’t do this without you!

Then they came, fly tyers, fly anglers, 300 plus visitors came through the door that day, and most stopped by to check us out, say hi, make a purchase or thank some of our vets for their service. We have a few that inquired about becoming a vet or participant. It was a great day at the Expo!

We use this event as a fundraiser for our program. Vet’s Healing on the Fly is a self-funded 501[c]3 non-profit with no paid staff. We currently service about 40 vets with disabilities and have a volunteer base of almost an equal number.

VHotF uses Fly-Fishing, Fly-Tying, Rod Building, and time on the water to help the vets with a disability cope with the challenges they face every day. There is never any cost to the vet for participation, and no experience is necessary.

And, during the process, we picked up 2 new vet participants Bill M, and Bill L.
If you are a vet with a disability or know one that you feel might benefit from our program, maybe you would like to support us, check out the contact links on our website. www.vetshealingonthefly.org .
See you next week,
Tight Lines, Don
