We Tied the Slumpbuster

This is a first for me, a Blog, just one small piece of our new organization…

Vets Healing on the Fly.

Please support us by checking out the website, and if you would like to get involved as a vet participant or volunteer or just have any questions, use the contact link to reach me.

Well, we stayed in house this week, a small group of 24 showed up at the American Legion to tie the Slumpbuster (pictured above).we saw some old faces that haven’t been around in a while, Karen, Marcos is back from AK, Ted R, who recently retired, and Emilio, our IT guy, who attended his first tying session.  There will not be a Zoom call Coffee hour this coming week.  We have two smaller groups getting together on Thursday to discuss the program and discuss what we offer to the vets and what we may be able to do to improve some areas of our operation as we move ahead into uncharted territory.

Program Change Announcements!

  • Click on the Link and Check Out Our Announcement Video Video | Facebook

  • Our official last date of connection with PHW is August 14th

  • We have a new website in beta test, and it looks awesome thanks to Emilio.  We have a new Facebook page in progress and will soon be running, once again thanks to Emilio and his daughter Bianca.  I just need to learn how to keep it fresh with new postings.  I will probably need to get one of my 6-year-old grandchildren to train me.  Links to both will be shared within the next week.

  • We have a number of both vets and vols getting together to discuss our future, fixing what did not work and improving what we can.  We are this coming Thursday so, if anyone has thoughts, please feel free to share them with John or I and we can bring them up at the meeting.

  • Yes, we will have apparel, hopefully starting with shirts for the vets, in the next few weeks.  We will move on to shirts for the vols and make hats available in the near future.

Docs Pond Saturday 8/23/25

This is just a gentle reminder, Saturday, 8/23/25, we will be holding an outing to Doc Shildgen’s Bass Pond in Litchfield, CT for our Vets Healing on the Fly participating in our program.  Any of our vet participants interested in bringing a family member to this year’s event, please let me know so we can plan accordingly.  If you are interested, please let me know so I can get you on the list.  Float tubes and kayaks work well at this event.  We look forward to seeing you there.
