Great call this week, just a small motley crew of 20 having some laughs and catching up.

Please mark your calendars and save December 18th.  This will be our annual Fly-tying/Holiday Gathering session.  Captain Bob is working on a fly of his own creation that will blend right into the upcoming holidays.  As usual, we will have a few special surprises for our vets and a special presentation for one vet in particular.  The tying session will be followed by a pizza lunch.  We hope you can make it.

Just got back from a quick ride to Putney, VT yesterday.  An angler and avid fly-tyer, just passed on all his tools and supplies to our program in honor of his 2 grandsons who are currently serving active military overseas.  The donor said he had been trying to find the right place to donate his gear and had searched through a number of organizations throughout New England but thought our program was the best match.

Our own Santa John and the Mrs. are back to work this year. Recently he was spotted at Cabela's on Thanksgiving afternoon. If you missed him, come visit Santa and Mrs. Claus at Hollandia Nursery in Bethel every Saturday and Sunday 12-3 until Christmas.

Jeff one of our volunteers took this beauty on the Farmington. He was out there on the coldest day in the last 9 months. I don't believe there was much of a crowd out there for him to get the prime water.

It's getting down right cold on the river and I am sorry to say, for most of us, the season is winding down. We'll be tying, and refilling our fly boxes until the spring.

Looking for something to do on these cold winter days, Mark your calendars, the FVTU Anglers Tag sale is coming up on January 3rd, snow date the 10th. Mark your calendars, and come out to support Vets healing on the Fly and Farmington Valley Trout Unlimited.

Look for some big changes in 2026.  We will be meeting twice a month, in person adding some evening fly-tying and we are moving a few of our outings to Saturdays.  This will allow those that can’t normally attend because of work or other commitments to participate.  We might even get a few more vets.

If you are a vet with disabilities or know one that may be interested in our program, maybe you are interested in supporting our program as a volunteer or through donation, you can contact us or support us by using the links on this site. www.vetshealingonthefly.org

See you next week...

Tight Lines,

Don
